About LISA DEBAETS

Statement:
Lisa has a strong appreciation for God's creation. Some of her favorite subjects are her husband, Roy, their beloved fur baby Coco, and the unique orchids Roy grows. She enjoys painting still life indoors and spending time outdoors, in nature or among people, to find the perfect inspiration that evokes emotion or radiates beauty. She loves the Lord and believes she has received divine inspiration for several of her works.

Biography:
Lisa DeBaets, an Indiana Hoosier, has spent her life in the creative arts. She is a lifelong learner and has studied under many accomplished and international artists. Her current creative pursuits are with watercolor, acrylic, Sumi-e and mixed media. Ongoing since the summer of 2016, Lisa organizes the plein air group, 'Sketchers R Us', encouraging the members via newsletter, social media, and by example to 'create' daily any way they can. She is an official member of Northwest Watercolor Society, Evergreen Association of Fine Arts where she is a public art exhibit manager, Woodinville Arts Alliance, and Northwest Collage Society. Lisa is the selected artist for the 2019 Sammamish Valley Alliance Celebration events. She has acrylic commissions, mixed media and original watercolor paintings and prints in several private collections across the United States and Canada.

Exhibits:
Lisa’s work has shown and sold at juried/invitational venues including Edmonds Art Festival Gallery, Port Gardner Bay Winery Gallery, EAFA Gallery, CCMI Gallery, Overlake Medical Center Bellevue, WA, Gallery North Small Works, Parklane Gallery, Dept. of Ecology, Inscape Gallery, Arts of Terrace, and Mercer Island Gallery, ERA Living Color Theory, . Her work is also a part of a conservation team's 'Orchids as Cultural Icons' educational traveling orchid Display in parts of Canada, & Trinidad.

Lisa follows in the footsteps of her favorite watercolor instructor and mentor, Ann Breckon, who has researched watercolor pigments extensively and the colors of her palette have been selected to include only those tested at the top lightfastness rating (good for 200 years). To protect the integrity and life of the paintings, the watercolor paper and all papers used in framing are totally archival.
